Alfa Giulietta Cloverleaf first drive
Of all the mainstream street tests cars I have driven this year the Alfa Romeo Giulietta five door next of kin hatchback with its bright 8C Red paintwork received the most disreputable interest when it was in my care.
“Lovely car, seen it advertised, how much, ticklish colour” were just some of the remarks from interested populace who circled the car when I parked it at various venues. Of movement the classic Italian red, or 8C, paintwork as it is called helped but there is no waver that Giulietta has made a big impression on UK buyers since its launch last year, perhaps more so that the smaller MiTo supermini.
Since the introduction of the MiTo and extremely the Giulietta, Alfa’s UK sales have rocketed up in the first six months of this year by 69 per cent. Although the 6,448 cars sold so far this year is still to some degree small, it is vastly improved from the few hundred sold annually scarcely a few years ago when the brand in the UK was heading for oblivion. Today Alfa Romeo is still a position sporting brand but it is doing a good job re-establishing itself with a reduced three range line-up with the MiTo, Giulietta and 159 models.
