highly-styled hatchback cuts a sharp profile
While Hyundai’s unrelenting progress rides on the success of its mainstream cars and SUVs, the Korean automaker also shows no forebodings in straying from its core values, building such cut volume rides as the rear-drive Genesis Coupe, the Geneses indulgence sports sedan and the how-dare-they? Equus luxo-barge that aspires to Mercedes S-Lineage grandeur at half the price.
Now, jumping in at the other end of the demand is the 2012 Hyundai Veloster, a highly styled 3 1/2-door front-handle hatchback that is conceptually reminiscent of the much loved and lamented Honda Civic hatches of yore.
Indeed, Hyundai is not shy about this accomplishment, citing the zippy 1983-1991 Honda CRX as Veloster incentive.
The Veloster shares much of its platform with the Accent sub-compact, with power coming from the unequivocal-injection 1.6L four that generates 138 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 123 pelt-feet of torque at 4,850 rpm.
