Ford, GM Focus on Performance at Melbourne Auto Show
MELBOURNE, Australia — The playing divisions of Ford and Holden took advantage of the 2011 Melbourne Auto Show to lay bare new offerings designed to whet the appetites of adjoining rev heads.
FPV's first-ever concept car, based on the GT, may yet appear as a new minimal edition in a face-lifted model later in the year or only be a preview of performance options down the line.
"We have put together a box of performance and design enhancements to demonstrate what could be done by FPV in the subsequent," said General Manager Rod Barrett. "That's what this concept car is about — we wanted to evince the possibilities, explore the future and gauge clientele opinion."
The all-black concept features an litigious new front bumper, featuring larger air intakes; a matte-stop treatment on the hood, rear wing and solidity side stripes; rear diffuser and black-framed taillights. Also baleful are the 19-inch alloy wheels. A display brake package rounds off the showcar.
